An A record points your domain name to the numeric address of a server.
The A record is the simplest DNS record. It says: this name lives at this address. When you go live on a new host, this is usually the record that changes.
Most domains have one A record for the bare name, like yourbusiness.com. The www version often uses a CNAME instead, which points at the bare name.
